Happy Valentine’S Day!

Over the past couple weeks we have looked at different kinds of love- from God’s love to self- love, to love of friends. Today, being Valentine’s Day, we will bring it all together. How do we, as Christians, show love to one another and to God?

The following affirmations are from my e-book , “Affirmations on Fruit of the Spirit” which is available to purchase as part of the “Bloom in Faith Bundle” HERE

I Choose Love

Spirit inspired love is not dependent on events, people or things. While love usually refers to strong feelings, a Spirit led love is deeper. God wants us to really love Him to such an extent that our love spills over to other people.

Here are affirmations and verses about love to encourage you to love bigger and bolder than an earthly, superficial love.

Godly Love

Listen to God’s Word about His Love for You

I choose a love that cannot be defined by earthly words. My love is the ultimate love exemplified by God. God is Love. He transforms me so that my character is defined by love.

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4:8 NIV

Selfless Love

I choose to love my Lord God beyond my human capabilities with a love that encompasses every ounce of my very being. When I concentrate on my love for Him, I will have the power to love others.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the  first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39

Brotherly Love

I choose to love other Christ-followers despite our differences of opinions. I know that the world can best see an example of God’s love by the way I treat others with differing spiritual opinions.

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35

Responding Love

I choose to love because God loved me  first. When I choose to reciprocate the love given to me, I allow God to love through me. He rewards my faith by giving me the power to love others. As I give more love, God empowers me to love more.

“We love because he  first loved us.” 1 John 4:19,
NIV

Ask Yourself:

What does a love filled day look like to me? If your definition of love was to become the world’s standard definition, how would you define love? ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________
