Love like Jesus

Hello, beautiful woman of God. It is Valentine’s Day tomorrow and I have been thinking a lot about love. I am single, not married and do not have any romantic prospects on the horizon. Yet, I love.

I love my son. He is an amazing young man and I am awed by his growth and development (physically, mentally, emotionally, socially). I love my mom and brother. I love my friends. I love my church family.

How do I know about love? I say it is because I am, and have been loved.

It all comes down to this:

1For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift.[a] So now everyone who believes in him[b] will never perish but experience everlasting life. (John 3:16 TPT)

Love, God’s love, is the foundation of my life. Jesus IS the gift. He has given my life so much more purpose, more depth, more meaning, more joy. I have had Valentine’s Days filled with chocolate, flowers, and fancy dinners in the past. I had what the world would call fulfillment- a good education, a career, a relationship. But, inside I was empty. Before I gave my life to the Lord I did not know true love.

So, what does it mean to “Love like Jesus”? Well, it is about partnering with the Holy Spirit and allowing the fruit of the spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness) to grow within you . It is not the kind of love the world celebrates on Valentine’s Day. It does not bring you chocolate or flowers. But, it is oh so sweet, and so fragrant.

Fruit (like fruit of the spirit) starts with a seed, fertile ground, light, fertilizer, and a Gardener. That is what I seek to provide through this blog. We can grow together. We can experience life in full bloom! Through HIM we can become the women we were created to be. Are you ready?

In the next few weeks, we will be exploring different kinds of love (starting with self- love), self- care, fruit of the spirit, and more. Subscribe to my blog so you do not miss anything.

Keep Bloomin’ in HIM,
